You are bidding on A Fantastic 1975 Autographed Limited Edition Lithograph measuring 28” x 22” By Herbert Ryman Titled Petrouchka From the Ballet of the same name from scenes by Igor Stravinsky and choreographed by Michel Fokine
Herb Ryman was known for his technical virtuosity and wide range of subjects. Able to easily capture images using Pen & Ink, oils or watercolors. His various styles succeeded to depict the mood & inherent beauty found in his subjects.
Ryman was a lifelong student of the figure. He inspired and joined in weekly life drawing sessions for fellow Disney artists, and taught occasionally at the Art Center College of Design. As his students at the Art Center sketched this model dressed as the lead character in the Stravinsky Ballet, Ryman drew her too. Herb personalized another Petrouchka Lithograph in our collection that reads: “This study done as a demonstration for my students in about 45 minutes to prove the strength and power of theatrical make up. In this case these expressions of a Russian Doll miraculously gives the gift of life. The young ballerina made her own costume and I enjoyed trying to draw it faithfully”. - HR
This Impressive Petrouchka Limited Edition Lithograph is hand numbered in pencil #233/600 in the bottom left corner. Herb also signed it in pencil in the bottom right hand corner as well as within the comments by Herb Ryman printed in the lithograph dated Dec. 17, 1975. This Lithograph is in Good Condition for its age while showing natural wear and wrinkles due to being stored rolled and in a mailing tube.
This wonderful Limited Edition Petrouchka Lithograph by Herbert Ryman is now close to 50 Years Old!
In 1985, Herb Ryman’s generosity was bestowed upon our family as he sat our two daughters down at the easel in his studio (shown here) and created a pencil sketch of our girls that we cherish to this date. We continue to enjoy not only his artwork created for the consumption of many, but also for our own personal admiration and joy.
